2018 The Knot Best of Weddings

Hello!

I'm Karin, wedding and lifestyle photographer.

Behind the lens has been my happy place since I was a kid. I launched my first wedding photography business in 2011.

My intuitive and flexible thinking has been a valuable asset when capturing fast-paced, once-in-a-lifetime events like weddings. These qualities allow me to personalize my approach to every couple, encouraging and bringing out their sincerity and authenticity.

It's a privilege to be entrusted with capturing irreplaceable memories.

THE EARLY YEARS

During my early teens, I had the privilege of learning from a remarkable photographer, our neighbor Tom. He was a regular contributor to Nature Magazine and even had his work featured in National Geographic. Tom instilled in me the fundamentals of photography.

That was back in the days of film when it was vital to get the shot righ the first time. He also taught me that moments are fleeting, and it was essential to be attentive and ready. Those lessons still accompany me to every session.

UNOFFICIAL BEGINNING

One ordinary day, a coworker asked me to do a family photo session. It wasn't an official gig, but I aimed to create something meaningful. The family loved their pictures. Their reactions made me aware of the power of portrait photography, and of the joy I got from delivering tangible memories to happy people.

Their enthusiasm and the influx of requests that resulted directly from that session led me to leave my day job within 6 weeks and pursue photography full-time.

OFFICIAL BEGINNING

It was a couple of months into my new career that I unexpectedly found myself as a wedding photographer. After a lot of coercion, I hesitantly agreed to shoot a small family wedding. To my surprise, it was an instant love affair with wedding photography.

I knew I needed to focus on weddings when I officially launched my business. It was a natural fit.

WHY I VALUE PHOTOGRAPHY

Memories are our most precious keepsakes, and photography preserves moments that would otherwise fade into the ether. Photographs have the power to evoke emotions and transport us back to cherished moments.

Since 1823, when the first photograph was taken, we have continuously improved our craft and technology to capture the highlights of our lives. Preserving beauty, milestones, and precious memories is what I'm passionate about as a photographer.
